About the job
This exciting opportunity is for an effective people Manager who will provide services and support to job seekers ranging from CV preparation to cover letters, online applications, paper applications and in some cases just simply a listening ear. you will manage the running of the club, manage engagements with the team of volunteers, provide 1-2-1 support to job seekers from the local community, search and identify local vacancies, engage with our media partners for periodic adverts/publications about the club, and work in partnership with the DWP representative on our team.
This role could also involve exposure to challenging behaviour from people who access or need the service we provide, and you’ll be required to use your own initiative as appropriate. In a context of good support, for example signposting other agencies able to offer a relevant service. You may be required to travel to and from the location of the 1-2-1 contact (where applicable and reasonable to do so) taking some of the key items that support our service delivery.
To succeed in this role
You will be required to be digitally aware with administrative skills, flexible, and empathetic. You will need to have an awareness of the policies, practices and procedures in relation to safeguarding; good understanding of the role as part of the wider local community. You will need to be able to work autonomously and flexibly occasionally.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous experience working with and leading a team of volunteers
Working experience of the Microsoft Office suite
Experience working in customer facing roles
Experience working and providing support remotely
Experience of effective partnership working with those who access or need services and maintaining a focus on the needs of the individual whilst also supporting with external support where needed
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to analyse and interpret information and prioritise needs in order to make recommendations/decisions which will have a positive outcome
Ability to recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, and seek appropriate support, advice and/or supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse range of people whilst influencing actions of others
Ability to manage a small budget and/or contributing to financially related decisions
Qualifications and/or experience:
GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualification or experience operating at this level of literacy. Experience of previously working in a Recruitment agency is desirable
Manage the running of the club including providing refreshments
Engage with existing volunteers and onboard new volunteers
Ensure client-centric service delivery
Ensure all properties of the club are kept safe and secure
Facilitate adequate measure of engagement with local community through social media, print media and local radio
